Martin Fewster Polo school

Martin runs the polo school in partnership with La Mariposa Polo who teach in the UK, Argentina and USA

The Martin Fewster Polo School is run from martins stables adjacent to Kirtlington Polo Club
Winston Churchill was right when he said "a polo handicap is the best passport." I have been lucky enough to be invited all over the world to play, commentate and umpire….Dubai, Barbados, Argentina, etc etc

The best handicap I've achieved was 4 goals….and the nickname Rooster from a well known commentator at Cowdray Park.

Kirtlington in Oxfordshire has been my home for many years and one of the great places for polo. My livery yard and polo school are very close to beautiful Kirtlington Park Polo Club, famous for quality polo and well maintained grounds. The people who play and spectate at Kirtlington also make it a special and friendly place.
About Martin
About Martin
My polo career started in Nigeria where my parents lived, a horse-mad country with a passion for the game introduced back in colonial days. I've always appreciated the skills I learned from this sometimes rough and ready brand of polo!

When I returned to the UK, my first job was for a high goal team and I worked my way from there.  I realized very early on that polo-on any level-- is all about the horses and your ability to 'make' them. I started to spot and buy youngsters off the track and turn them into polo ponies. And I've never stopped!

New Zealand was the next step in my career-winter months playing polo in the sun and then back to the UK for the summer season.
My whole family loves polo and horses. My wife Melissa is former show jumper and is involved with the running of the yard. Our ten year old son James is polo mad and plays chukkas at the farm when he is not playing with the Pony Club.  And our daughter Lily has now started riding. Polo is something that the whole family shares.

Come and join us-we look forward to meeting you!

One of my kind clients offered this testimonial....

When you walk into Martin's yard, all the ponies stretch out to greet you, a sign of happy ponies. My ponies have been in Martin's yard for nine years now and have always thrived. There are many reasons; the grazing is excellent and the horses are cared for with expert skill and love. Martin's grooms are not only the best –from England and Argentina—but come with extra skills as well like cooking the best Asado (Argentine style barbeque) and providing memorable moments at Kirtlington's many polo parties.

The farm chukkas at Martin's yard, especially at the start of the season, always remind me what I love best about polo; friends, laughter along with excellent polo tips.  It doesn't stop there—the yard is set in some of the loveliest land in Oxfordshire. The fifteen minute ride through fields and forest trails to the Kirtlington Polo Club is filled with sighting of deer, red kites and the occasional bold fox. And there is a bonus in late summer when you can snatch blackberries from your pony on the hack back after chukkas.
And another.....

"Martin Fewster has coached the Grafton Pony Club teams for more than 5 years.

He has taught through the entire age and ability range, from 7 year old Jorrocks players to 4 goal Gannon teams.
All the children have enjoyed and benefited from his excellent coaching, his patience, encouragement and his ability to bring out the best in both those starting out and the experienced players.
